The asphalt floatability tester calculates the time required for the sample to gradually soften and be broken by water in seconds (s) from being placed in a water tank at a certain temperature. The experiment should be conducted at the specified temperature. Unless otherwise specified, the test temperature for residual oil after distillation of liquid petroleum asphalt is 50 ℃, and the test temperature for coal tar pitch is 32 ℃ or 50 ℃. This method is suitable for determining the float of materials such as residual oil after distillation of slow setting liquid petroleum asphalt and coal tar pitch.
