The Type B strain controlled direct shear apparatus (quadruple shear) (stepless speed regulation) is used to determine the shear strength of soil. Typically, four specimens are subjected to shear forces under different vertical pressures to obtain the shear stress at failure. The shear strength coefficient, internal friction angle, and cohesion are determined based on Coulomb's law.
